Build the App.
Own the Tech.

We're building a real-world singles movement with a fully scoped product. We need a technical co-founder who wants to build something people actually use — not another dating app.

The Pitch

What Is Flamingle?

Flamingle ("You Single? Let's Flamingle.") is a brand, a movement, and a growing ecosystem designed to help singles get off the apps and back into the real world. The core mechanic is simple: branded merchandise that signals I'm single and open. One symbol, one meaning. Strangers see the flamingo and know they have permission to approach.

The app is the digital layer that connects the physical movement — scannable profiles, an opt-in heat map of nearby Flaminglers, event discovery, and a community feed. Think less dating app, more movement infrastructure.

The brand is built, the merch is launching, and the pilot is Denver. This role is Denver-local.

What You're Building

A Fully Scoped Product Waiting to Be Built.

The product requirements document is complete. The brand, visual identity, and color system are established. You're not walking into a napkin idea — you're walking into a real spec with a real brand behind it.

Who We're Looking For

An Engineer Who Cares How It Feels.

Someone who has shipped real mobile apps, takes pride in the product experience — not just the architecture — and wants to own something from the ground up.

The Role

Chief Technology Officer

You own the app — architecture, build, launch, and ongoing development. You're not a contractor executing someone else's vision. You're a co-builder who has real say in how the product evolves, with the full support of the founder on brand, business, and product strategy.

The PRD is written and the brand direction is clear. What we need is someone to bring it to life and make it better than what's on paper.

Time commitment: 15–20 hours per week to start, with a clear path to full-time as the brand grows and funding follows traction.

Partnership Tracks

Two Ways In.

We're open to two arrangements depending on who you are and what you bring. Both are real.

Track 1

What You're Building Into

This Is Not a Side Project.

The Flamingle ecosystem includes branded merchandise launching in Denver, a venue partner network, a social media presence, and a pilot city activation — all before the app is live. You're not building an app in a vacuum. You're building the digital layer of a movement that's already in motion. The person in this role isn't support — they're a primary architect of what this becomes.

Joel Poppert
Who You're Working With

The Founder

Joel Poppert is a lifetime entrepreneur — from running a construction company in his twenties, to leading clean energy initiatives, to co-founding a private finance company. He builds things. That's what he does.

Off the clock, he's out living the kind of life Flamingle is built for — traveling, hiking, catching live music, finding a good patio, and never turning down a dog. Especially Mesa, his own.

He met his first wife on OkCupid. They're amicably divorced. For the four years since, he's had what he describes as a love-hate relationship with the apps — mostly hate. He's old enough to remember what it felt like to walk up to someone in the wild, heart pounding, and say hi. The awkwardness of it. The rejection. And those rare moments of genuine connection and butterflies that no algorithm has ever been able to replicate.

Flamingle isn't a product. It's a belief that we've broken something that didn't need to be broken — and that we can get back to the fundamentals of how people actually connect. He's building the infrastructure. He needs someone to build the technology around it.
